Film In A Box
FILM-IN-A-BOX
The purpose of the Film-in-a-box program is To encourage students to practice their filmmaking craft, TMA is piloting a program where it will provide a package of equipment that can be rented from the Media Arts Lab (MAL). Since TMA will not provide any mentorship or supervision over the personal projects made with this equipment, students are responsible for all risks and liabilities their projects may incur. To delineate this separation, students will be charged a rental fee of $25 per box and are required to acknowledge their release of BYU from all potential liabilities. This pilot program will be evaluated by TMA faculty and staff at the end of the winter semester for renewal.
Requirement to use Film in a Box:
Students must be Media Arts majors or minors in good standing with the MAL, on track with required coursework, and have completed TMA 185/105. Reservations will be taken on a first-come, first-served basis. Equipment may be checked out for up to a 72-hour period. Each student can reserve the equipment twice per semester, including the spring/summer semester. Reservations will only be available during regular MAL Checkout hours, excluding reading days and finals. Requests for additional equipment to be added to the package will not be allowed.
