Acting Proficiencies

At the end of fall and winter semesters, students in the Acting (BFA) Program demonstrate their developing skills by performing an audition in the acting proficiency auditions. A jury of acting professors watch these auditions, evaluate the students' skills, and gives helpful feedback to guide each student’s artistic growth. The audition consists of two contrasting monologues with a combined length of 3 minutes.

Each year, students in the Acting (BFA) Program are expected to meet higher acting proficiency standards. The scores from these auditions determine eligibility for future acting courses. Students who don’t meet the expected level are placed on program probation, and being placed on probation three times may result in dismissal from the program.
