The BYU Student Film Association seeks to: (1) create opportunities for BYU film students to network by providing greater awareness of individual expertise, (2) engender greater appreciation for student work by providing opportunities to screen student films to peers and other BYU students, and (3) encourage more student film production by providing a public venue for student work. The BYU Student Film Association is an academic council under the Department of Theatre and Media Arts Department. Council members are nominated by the faculty advisors and approved by the Media Arts Faculty. The BYU Student Theatre Association (STA) is a student run organization within the TMA Department that seeks to: (1) build sustainable relationships among the BYU communities, (2) promote service-learning, and (3) encourage a gospel centered approach to the arts. Among other activities STA runs 24-hour theatre, promotes service opportunities, hosts forums, and orients new students.
