Part Time Stage Manager

Wasatch Contemporary Dance Company seeks to hire a part time stage manager for the 2024-2025 season. This position is a contracted position including flexible hours, low time commitment, and a supportive work and learning environment for those interested in the dance/theater industry.

Job Description: The Stage Manager manages the non-dance elements of each show. These can include, depending on the show:

Communicating with choreographers about any prop, set, or technology needs their works may require
Helping to create, store and transfer props to the performance venue
Collecting music files onto a device for use during the show
Giving backstage cues to the light/sound booth during performances
Directing the transportation and installation of marley flooring prior to the show
Directing the removal and storage of marley after the show
Helping with other set up and break down needs

Hours:
August 19-August 27 (for Summer Soiree): 8 hours of work total, with mandatory on-site hours on August 27 from 5-9 PM. The other hours would be remote and suited to Stage Manager’s preference.
September 3-November 9 (for Fall concert): 30 hours of work total, with mandatory hours on November 8 and 9 during dress rehearsals and shows. The other hours would be suited to Stage Manager’s preference.
January 13-April 12 (for Spring concert): 30 hours of work total, with mandatory hours on April 12 during dress rehearsals and shows. The other hours would be suited to Stage Manager’s preference.
June 1-June 14 (for Movers+Makers Showcase): 10 hours of work total, with mandatory on-site hours from 5-9 PM on June 14. The other hours would be remote and suited to Stage Manager’s preference.

Pay:
The Stage Manager agrees to a set stipend of $840 for work performed ($120 each for the mini performances, and $300 each for the main performances). Hours worked is an estimate and job may take fewer hours. Pay will not be reduced if work is completed in less time than estimated. Stage Manager can track their hours to assure that they aren’t spending more than the estimated amount of time on any given concert. Payments are made at the time of each concert (August, November, April and June).
