HBLL Film Screening, "The Son of Kong" (1943)

Join us in the HBLL Library Auditorium for the somewhat-forgotten sequel The Son of Kong (1934), this Wednesday, September 14th at 3pm.

Nine months after the release of KING KONG in theaters, SON OF KONG was quickly released to cash in on the popularity of the first film.

With many of the same creative individuals returning for a double-dip, what happened with this sequel? Rarely seen, as it was only modestly received originally and has never gained a retrospective following, we are excited to continue our “monkey month” series for September.

We will review our print together, talk about what works and what doesn’t, and see if this one is better left to history, or if reconsideration is in order.
