FIVE FINGERS (1952) Exclusive Vintage Film Projection

Wednesday, November 16, 3pm, Library Auditorium

This week we are featuring FIVE FINGERS (1952) this WEDNESDAY.
For this month, we are viewing film noir titles or at least gritty urban post-war cinema. “NOIRVEMBER”

Directed by Joseph Mankiewicz. Music by Bernard Herrmann. The poster says, “Lust, Greed, Passion, Desire, Sin” the “five fingers.” So, those are the five fingers of a sinful hand (maybe?)

This is postwar spy thriller, with location shooting in Berlin, Ankara, London, and Istanbul. Stars James Mason and Danielle Darrieux. This was acclaimed for its screenplay and direction.

I bet you haven’t seen it, so come take a chance on it. You will likely be pleasantly surprised. Screening on a WEDNESDAY, if your schedule has kept you from joining us this semester, now you can come.

What you missed last week: a hearing impaired prison inmate who proves his worth by reading lips across crowded cafeterias, and through mirrors strategically placed in cells and hallways.

NOT TO MISS:
November 18, 7pm (THIS FRIDAY). THE DEAD, THE DEVIL AND THE FLESH (1974)
A professor delves into the study of the world of the dead, eventually delving so deep as to visit as an observer. There he will learn of the torment of the deceased who cannot enjoy physical sensation. His visit to the underworld will alter the rest of his life. You have never seen anything like this!
