
Unto These Hills is an outdoor drama located on the Qualla Boundary in Cherokee, NC. It is the third oldest outdoor drama in the country and tells the story of the formation of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians from first contact with Europeans through the years following the infamous Trail of Tears.
Technician contract dates are May 1st through August 26th
Actor contract dates are May 5th through August 19th
Salaries typically range between $250 and $450 per week, depending on the role or position. Onsite housing is available for a small weekly fee. We also offer discounted fight classes, a ticket exchange with over 30 nearby attractions, discounted headshots with a professional photographer, and a small black box season for company members only.
Once the show is open, company members mostly have their days free aside from a weekly work call and any necessary understudy rehearsals. We have shows 6 nights per week.
We are looking for artists that are serious about the work and take care and respect in telling this important story. We hire a variety of experience levels and all ethnicities. We prioritize casting Indigenous individuals in the Indigenous roles, but all are welcome to audition. We will be casting at SETC, UPTA, and SOTA in early 2023. We are currently accepting resumes for all technical positions. Areas of interest include lighting, audio, pyrotechnics, costumes, stage management, and props.
