Marion Bentley was "smitten" with theater from the instant he was cast in a St. George grade school production of "The Farmer in the Dell" as the farmer at about age 6.

Marion Bentley, who died peacefully in his sleep June 8 at age 90, was known for his contributions to theater education throughout Utah.

He taught at Brigham Young University in Provo for 30 years, brought London theater and Broadway musicals to Dixie College in St. George as a professor there from 1954 to 1968, updated the schools'theater programs and helped found the Tuacahn Center for the Arts in Ivins, Utah.

The Bentleys encourage family and friends to go and enjoy the theater in lieu of sending flowers.
