The Student Colorist will be directly involved in the technical and artistic aspects of broadcast color correction for a wide variety of programming, promotions and other on-air elements. The Student Colorist will work under the Senior Colorist and Post Supervisor to color correct, color grade and prepare original BYUtv programming for broadcast. They will also be responsible over coordinating with Editors involved with their assigned projects. Depending on class schedule, work hours can be flexible. This position is for those who excel, who are passionate, and who have a strong desire to learn the art and science of color correction and color grading. There will be opportunities for increased responsibility and resumé-enhancing work for the right individual. This position can be very rewarding for those who want to be involved in the broadcast production industry.
All color work will be done in DaVinci Resolve using high-end color panels and reference monitors.
Students are expected to work 20hrs/week during the school year, and have the option to work full-time during the Spring/Summer.
Job Qualifications:
- Filmmaking or photography experience. Any kind of reel/portfolio is a plus
- Experience in any other art-related work is a plus. (Show us your art!)
- Experience in DaVinci Resolve is a plus
- Good working knowledge of Adobe Premiere, Avid Media Composer, or any other NLEs
- Critical eye for color correction and color matching
- Looking for a hard worker who is reliable, self-driven, a problem-solver, flexible, attentive to detail, and has an exceptional eye for color
- Good, open communication
- Must have a regular and consistent attendance at scheduled shift
- Color accuracy test will be administered during interview
Compensation: Pay starts at $16.00/hr
