Biography
Kelyn grew up on a steady diet of world cinema, baseball, and Tokyo’s public transit. His love for the intersections of sports, the mundane, the world, and film propelled him to co-found The Plains, a film production company based in Utah, where he produces and directs commercial and creative work. Clients include Facebook, USPS, Verizon, Wells Fargo, VMware, Patagonia, and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Recent feature films include The Streak, Japantown: What is Lost, What Remains, and Scenes from the Glittering World. Kelyn is a graduate of TMA’s Media Arts Program, and has been a sometimes adjunct faculty member in the department for nearly a decade. His most recent work was the short Rat Rod, which won the Seattle International Film Festival Best Documentary Short and qualified for the 2025 Academy Awards.
