Biography
Brandon grew up just outside of Seattle, Washington, and found his way to Provo — and back again. A BYU alumnus, he returns to his alma mater after more than three decades working in the film industry, bringing with him a career that includes some genuinely memorable projects. He served as a camera assistant for the indie cult classic Napoleon Dynamite, worked extensively as a cinematographer on narrative, commercial, and documentary productions, and on many meaningful productions for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Most recently he served as Director of Photography on the Apple TV+ reboot of Yo Gabba Gabba! At home, he's a husband and father of three grown kids. Brandon is most excited about mentorship — getting to know each student as an individual and helping them discover and develop their own creative voice. He's thrilled to be back at BYU and can't wait to get to work with the next generation of filmmakers. In fall, Brandon will be teaching an updated 315R Cinematography course and a new TMA 315R course on Lighting for Film. In winter, he will add to that load TMA 105 Using Basic Film Tools. Brandon will also be the manager of the new Sound Stage.
