Internship Opportunities
Not all internships posted here have internship agreements with the University and therefore would not be "for credit" experiences.
Seattle is a great place to make a name for yourself in the performing and visual arts, being second only, with Chicago, to New York in theatres per capita. If you will be in the Seattle area, you might be interested in applying for theatre internships or jobs at 5th Avenue Theatre, Seattle Repertory Theater, and Seattle Children’s Theatre. 5th Avenue Theatre: this successful theatre has done pre-Broadway premiers like Hairspray and Shrek, their own productions, and tours. This is an excellent place to seek experience. Internships (semester and year-long, unpaid) are available in performance, business/marketing, production, directing, and development admin (grant writing). Some internships turn into jobs. Tech crew provides apprenticeships. Apprentice must be a member of the union. 5th Ave. has a musical theatre summer camp for high school students. Florida Studio Theatre (a 3 theatre complex in Sarasota, FL) is seeking quality interns for the 2009-2010 Season. The 2009-2010 Season runs from September 8, 2009-August 28, 2010. The Florida Studio Theatre internship program offers practical, hands-on training in a professional Theatre environment. Interns work side by side with theatre professionals in their chosen field. Interns learn by experience. We offer internships in many areas including Literary Management, Marketing, Development, Stage Management and Technical Theatre. Interns play an integral role at Florida Studio Theatre. We are seeking applicants who are eager to gain hands on experience in a professional theatre environment. We keep 15-18 Interns on board at all times, in a wide variety of positions. Stipends start at $75 per week plus FST provides free furnished housing. Stipends grow as the intern grows. Our goal is simple: when interns leave FST, they can get regular work. Additionally, we hire many Interns to entry level staff positions. Decade Media (Provo/SLC), in partnership with Utah Valley-based Square Magazine, offers internships in the areas of film and video preproduction, production, postproduction, motion graphics, and podcasting. Due to the hands-on nature of this internship, you will be helping to produce excellent work that adheres to professional industry standards.
